Sewing projects…and other stuff

Well after seeing Miss Victoria sew so much it made me realize how much I missed it! So, I went digging through my supplies and found a old dress that I was supposed to repair but forgot about. I decided to practice a bit of embroidery and this is what I ended up with.. I think it turned out pretty well!

Embriodery project

My little brother picked a flower for my momma and I thought it looked quite beautiful floating in the water…

We also have a artist in the house (well I mean another one). I really have enjoyed seeing Victoria’s beautiful sketches.

Becky also planted some pretty little flowers… I think they look just lovely!

If you haven’t already guessed… I love taking pictures of flowers! Winking smile

Horse Training…Again…

018 (2)Horses are herd animals. They know there is safety in numbers and they naturally just want companionship. Horse training is quite a interesting process. There are the days when you both feel like you could win the World Championship and there are days when you would just like to throw in the towel. There are days when riding comes natural and there are days when you find yourself sitting in the dust wondering if you should bother getting back on.

Miracle and I are doing some Clinton Anderson/Bethany Wood horse training program. This one is better than just Clinton Anderson for two reasons, 1. I throw out everything I don’t want to do and 2. because I really like my ideas… Hahaha… well that is less than true but I have learned that one horse is normally completely different than the next so I kind of change things around a little bit to fit Miracle best.

Three things to remember while training…

1. Be Confident! I know who my God is and so does my horse so he can’t get away with anything.

2. Have fun with it. I can make this into a power struggle (not a good idea because he weights roughly 1400 lbs more than me) or I can choose to learn from what is going on and fix it.

3. Never let someone tell you that you can’t do it. Here I am 16 years old, training a horse that grown adults were afraid of. Now he is this beautiful, rather wonderful, kind and loving horse (that just happens to have outburst of energy).

So there is a little more on Miracle and my training. He is getting better each day and I am learning to LOVE  it.

To God be the glory.

Update- Life

Sugar1111 (3)We have some a very dear friend from out of state visiting us for the wedding. She has been such a blessing.

We recently got a YMCA membership so our family has been enjoying the benefits! Bekah and I are hoping to get a little more in shape (although I did try and explain to her that circle is a shape) by doing some water exercises.

We are preparing for weddings, gardening. horse training and we were even asked to be in a movie (we declined their offer)… Life never seems to slow down for me. It seems to keep moving on whether or not I want it to. I am enjoying the sweet moments of this week though. From swimming in water troughs, to deep cleaning the house, chasing chickens and training horses… Life is sweet, the sun is hot and I am blessed!

Hope you all are staying cool.

To God be the glory.

4 things I’ve learned from training…

Workout1 1/2 years ago I was blessed with a wonderful arabian/paint horse. We went through a lot of trust exercises, fixing mistakes, fun games and so much more. My horse is one of my best friends. He is quite a good teacher too! I normally get a funny look right around when I say that so I thought I would share with you four things that Miracle has taught me.

1. Trust

Miracle has the choice to trust me or his instincts (which are normally “RUN AWAY!!!!”). The best thing for him would be to trust me because I will protect him from the “monster” that is about to eat him. – Now, after becoming quite frusterated with him because he wasn’t trusting me with anything and he kept causing himself harm because of it too, I though, “I wonder what God thinks of me?”… Then I started thinking of all the things I needed to hand over to him. So, whenever I look outside and see my horse, one of the things I think of is God’s care for me and my trust in him.

2. Love

Miracle’s full name is “The Lord’s Miraculous Love”. If you want the story behind his name you can read it by clicking on Miracle’s name above. Every time I see Miracle I remember the Lord’s love.

3. Focus (still kind workin on this one)

If Miracle doesn’t focus on me I get quite frustrated and about then the thought pops into my head, “boy, what does God think of me?” I have to work hard to stay focused on the important things in life just like Miracle has to work hard to focus on me.

4. Diligence

I have to stick with what I am doing with Miracle. A little bit of laziness can truly destroy a lot of hard work. Miracle and I work hard at what we are learning. I need to have the same diligence in my spiritual life with the Lord.

Soo… Those are some of the things that God has taught me through Miracle. There have been so many moments with Miracle that have scared me half to death or made me (and I am guessing him too) feel like we could fly. I am very thankful God has brought this horse into my life! And now, I had better get going, Miracle and I have some training to get done.

To God be the glory.

Life is too short…

When I see baby Daniel, I think of life. All the blessings of life, all the long days in this life, all the moments when you are on your knees in prayer, all the moments when you feel like you could soar, ALL of these moments come into my mind when I see baby Daniel. Words cannot express how honored I am that God chose me to be the one to watch him grow into the man He has created Daniel to be.

I was able to capture Daniel’s sweet little smile as I rocked him on the porch today. I don’t know if they can get much sweeter!

New Baby in the Wood Home- Daniel Justice

Daniel Justice We have a new baby here in the Wood home. His name is Daniel Justice. We found out about Daniel only 5 or so days ago through a email. We found out that Daniel was going to be our little brother yesterday morning.

Baby colloge

Name Meaning: Daniel- God is my judge, Justice

Daniel is only 10 days old ( and weighs 6 lbs) . He has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Our family is learning as much as we can about this. We are hoping that good nutrition will help.

We are all quite excited about Daniel coming to our home. We have all picked out “first” things that we are going to do with him. I am giving Daniel his first horse ride, Josiah is picking his first outfit, Zeke is going to be the first Wood child to hold the baby, some of the kids are picking out first toys, first bath tub, bedding for the crib ect.                                                                                       Yesterday we did some last minute shopping and bought most of what we need for the baby. We got some of the cutest little boy clothes! I am looking forward to the shopping that we are bound to do in the next couple of weeks. Baby shopping is one of my favorite things to do (we already got him his first cowboy outfit)!

I am sure I will have much to post about in the weeks and months to follow. :-)

Until our next chat…
